Watched about three hours of little boy, bigger boy baseball and a couple of men's slow pitch softball games in Marthasville last night. I gave up at dusk and went across the road and set up camp. I woke up at 11:30 PM and the field lights were still on. That's the same thing that happened two years ago when I camped there. They appear to really enjoy their baseball in Marthasville. Everyone was very friendly and having a good time. Very enjoyable evening. Slept well camping; the ground was dry and the grass soft.
Got going about 8:00 AM this morning. I stopped at most of the Katy Trail trail heads and chatted with other cyclists. Also stopped and chatted with 3 year old Cash, his dog Tesla and his mom and dad. They were out for a 7 mile walk. There was a stroller for Cash and they probably had to use it at some point. Cash was just excited about everything. When/how as adults do we loose this enthusiasm? And can we reclaim it somehow?
I made it to St. Charles by 1:00 PM and stopped at The Bike Stop as recommended by my Warm Showers host for tonight Kelly Burt. They have a sandwich/coffee shop and there is a full-service bike shop that also rents bikes for use on the Katy Trail. I had the dust and grime cleaned off of my drive train and had it lubed.
I called my host for tonight who works from home and she said to come on over. They only live two blocks away. I'm looking forward to the company and a bed tonight.
Tomorrow it is off to Grafton, IL where I will meet Eric, my biking companion for the next few weeks, later in the day
I am enjoying your posts very much. Keep riding. Have either a soda fountain cola or milkshake for me.
