June 7 - Pacific Junction, IA to Nebraska City, NE (30 mi.)

Susi drove me to Council Bluffs this morning and it rained quite hard much of the way. We arrived around 10:30 AM then killed time until it stopped raining at about 1:30 PM. I didn't want to arrive at my Warm Showers host in Nebraska City too late so we jumped ahead to Pacific Junction where I unloaded, said my goodbyes and began cycling. I had a good tailwind most of the way and made good time. I arrived at the home of Bruce and Joan Berggren just before 5:00 PM. Joan is out of town this weekend at a granddaughter's wedding shower in Omaha. Bruce is a retired Lutheran minister. After cleaning up, Bruce drove me on a tour of Nebraska City. It is an amazing community with much to see. We arrived at the Lewis & Clark interpretive center about 15 minutes before closing but the volunteer is a friend of Bruce's and he let us in at no charge and stayed late so we could view the exhibits. I'll add photos in the future. After the tour Bruce treated me to dinner at Valentinos Italian Buffet - very good. What an excellent host! Tomorrow's destination is a city campground in Falls City, NE which is just north of the Nebraska/Kansas state line.
