My Warm Showers host gave me info on a good, short route to the Grafton Ferry. I was out the door just after 7:00 AM. Ate a breakfast wrap at The Bike Stop then rode around St. Charles for half an hour. Found the Lewis & Clark Boat House museum. It didn't open till 10:00 AM but I was able to take a few photos of the full-size replica boats. Very nice. Headed back down Main St. at 8:00 AM. Also very nice thou later in the day becomes somewhat of a tourist trap. Still very nice. Headed toward the Grafton Ferry on MO94. Very nice riding. Across the Mississippi and in Grafton by a little after 9:00 AM. Dropped off all my bags except one and headed for Alton. Tried finding Fast Eddies bar but no luck. Ducked into a McDs for lunch then headed for Hartford where the Lewis & Clark expedition started. Just as I arrived at the Confluence Tower just past Hartford, I met Eric, my riding buddy for the next few weeks. We headed back to Grafton and arrived about 4:45 PM. It was really hot and humid this afternoon and Eric was "cooked". We cooled down with a couple of brewskis.
Off tomorrow for Pleasant Hill. Having grown up near here I feel like I'm on home turf.
You're welcome to stay here if you are anywhere close. Otherwise, keep on peddling.
